T-ryxis one of the few, and largest recumbent trike dealerships in southern California, and we're growing! Take a look around you while you drive your auto to the neighborhood grocery store, or to the beach, or to work. Notice the prices on the gas pumps? The petroleum industry seems to raise the prices every chance they get. Every once in a while, they lower prices a bit, just to get us to be complacent about the prices when they're high. SoCal gas prices recently started rising again and they're averaging around $3.29 nationally, and $3.49 in California, at the time of this update. Didn't that seem like a lot of money a little while ago? But drivers are just rolling with the punches.
Notice the traffic jams? Notice how stressed the drivers, and passengers, are (including yourself...and MYself when I have to drive? Looking to save on gas money? Want to minimize your use of fossil fuels in order to help conserve our natural resources? Trying to get in shape but don't want to sit on a piece of dental floss disguised as a bike seat and lean over into a pretzel position? These are all questions recumbent trikes and hand cycles address perfectly! They literally run on water...and maybe a banana or so. As we discuss in our blog on the page, we're now accepting recumbent trikes as TRADE-INS.ANY CONDITION! If you have a recumbent trike that you don't ride, or that's not the one you really want, bring it in and trade up. Even if your trike is not operational, we'll give you a minimum of $50 trade-in value for a new trike costing up to $2000 MSRP. We'll give you a minimum of $100 for trade-in for a new trike valued at over $2000! Of course, if your trade-in trike is worth more than these amounts, we'll make you an offer based on its actual value after our mechanics check it out. Again, your trade-in can be any condition, and even not operational. However, you must bring proof of ownership such as the original receipt.
Handcycles and other specialty cycles PterraSoar Cyclery is our specialty cycling division, focusing on hand-cycles and folders from several manufacturers. Hand cycles can be used as racing machines, casual recreational trikes, or simply to work your upper body. Many hand cycles are are designed specifically for the rehab sector, but they can be used by anyone with the desire to develop upper body strength. Our main handcycle manufacturer is Invacare/Top End. As space permits, we'll also bring in folding bicycles such as Dahon, Brompton, and others. With one of these folders, you'll easily be able to commute via bus, trolley, or train, and then ride your bike from the station to your ultimate destination.
Velo-What???
Our Velocimobiles division is one of only a handful of velomobile dealerships in North America. Yes, velomobiles. Check out our Velocimobiles Site by clicking on the velociraptor logo or the "Velomobiles" link above. We're the exclusive Leiba dealer in California, and currently the ONLY Leiba dealer outside of Europe. As authorized Greenspeed dealers, we were sorry to see the Greenspeed Glyde taken out of production. Ian Sims said he still plans to bring it back at some point. In the mean time, we're in the R&D phase of developing our own line of velomobiles. If
you haven't seen a velomobile on the road or bike path, you will soon! The vehicles
have been popular in Europe, and with a select group of riders in the US, for years. But Velocimobiles is helping to introduce the velomobile to our country as the vehicle of choice.

We are a full-service shop. We have always serviced the recumbent trikes, bikes, and velomobiles we sell, but we also service any trike, velomobile, or bike we DON'T sell.
T. Ryx is still growing! In October of 2011 we relocated to our current location (Suite 123 in the same complex where we'd been for the previous three years). Our new shop has about 3X the usable space we had in suite 117, and we have space for 3 or 4 mechanics. We're still stocking the shop, and will continue to bring in new items as we find them.

Apparel and Accessories
In addition to pedal-powered cycles, including those with eAssist, we offer a wide variety of apparel and accessories, whether you're looking for recumbent specific or all around cycling "stuff".
We're authorized dealers for Kucharik, Mt. Borah, Reverse Gear, Nema, and other apparel makers. We sell accessories commonly used with bicycles, but we're constantly on the lookout for additional accessories to make your triking experience better. Sometimes they're made specifically for the recumbent sector, or even specifically for recumbent trikes. Sometimes we find accessories made for cyclng in general or specifically for diamond frame bicycles. Sometimes we find products outside the cycling industry that will work well for recumbent trikes and bikes. Keep watching our Web Site and Facebook Page for new products. And if you know of a product that you can recommend for recumbent trikes, give us a call or shoot us an email. We'll look into it and if it works for us (and if we don't already have it), we'll give you store credit for "finders fees". Don't worry, if you're not close enough to come in to our shop, we do ship to anywhere in the US.
Electric Assist Although it may seem counterproductive to offer electric motors for recumbent trikes and bikes, the truth is that many people can ride farther and longer with a motor assist, and therefore can get better exercise. Yes, electric assist systems are somewhat heavy, but they enable riders to keep up with a group, or even pass others, when otherwise they'd be left behind. When Isabella rides with our group on her KMX trike powered with an eAssist mounted in a modified BOB trailer, she rides circles around the rest of us. And she's still a young teenager! They also allow riders to haul more gear, climb steeper hills, and generally enjoy the ride more. We at Tyrannosarus, Inc. offer electric assist from BionX and Crystalyte. While not the least expensive accessories in the world, these have been the solution for many riders who need the extra power for their trikes and bikes. And no, it's not cheating unless you're using the motors to help you win a race against non-motorized cycles.
Go Solar Need to carry handheld electronics with you when you ride? We're an authorized dealer for Voltaic Systems, maker of solar chargers capable of charging your GPS unit, smart phone, MP3 player, and other small devices. They recently even came out with a solar charger able to handle larger devices, such as iPad and other tablets, and even notebook computers! The smaller units are rated at 4 Watts, while the new, larger unit is rated at 8 Watts. We've used the smaller units with great success, and can't wait to try out the larger ones. (Need to get a tablet first.)
GPS and other Electronics
We're an authorized dealer for Garmin GPS systems. I have a Garmin Nuvi 550 that I use for longer rides, and a Garmin Forerunner 600 wrist watch for every day riding. The Forerunner gives basic information such as distance, location, speed, etc., but it's small and stylish as a wrist watch also. The Nuvi is able to plot your location and route using maps loaded into its memory along with satellite information. Both of these units are designed for multiple uses The Forerunner 600 can be used for running or cycling. The Nuvi can be used as a car GPS, but cycling, hiking, and boating are also supported. Both of these units can be purchased through T. Ryx, along with many other GPS systems.
Coming Soon T. Ryx will soon be offering recumbent trikes on a rental basis. We'll start small and see how it goes. If it becomes popular, we'll expand. We often get calls or visits from folks who'd like to rent a trike before commiting to making a purchase. We understand that. But our goal is to allow everyone to get the recumbent trike experience. We're certain that you'll love the experience so much after you've tried one that you'll want to have one of your own. But we understand that the cost of a trike is no small matter, literally. We do our own homework before making a purchase, and renting a trike is a great means of ensuring due diligence. When we begin our rental service, we'll make an announcement on this Web Site as well as on our Facebook page and other venues.
Our Promise: We realize we're basically the only game in town here in San Diego, but we have customers all across North America! While a few other bike shops may have one or two recumbent trikes, we specialize in them. Our goal is to continually improve our product line and our service. Our customers are our primary concern.
